Ok ok ok. You can all stop bugging me about never writing on my blog. I'm doing it!! I realize that I have been hot and cold with this old thing since I started it in 2005...six years ago. BUT! I believe in second, third, fourth, fifth, and twentieth chances. And cats have nine lives right? Meow. I'm going to try to be much better about writing. Maybe this will help me feel a little better connected to the world. Being out of school, out of a student ward, drastically cutting down on the number of roommates I have (two if you count the road bike parked in our living room), and seeing my friends either keep on trucking in Provo or move to bigger and better places, has made me feel slightly isolated from the life I once knew. Graduation and marriage are two of life's most pivotal milestones, and I hit 'em up-style in the same year. Let's not mention that I also moved to the big city, and started a new job. Change is gonna come. So as I sit in our new apartment near beautiful Liberty Park, I also contemplate how to continue forward in this "new life," while also not putting aside those things that made me who I was becoming. While I yearn for that comfortable feeling, I am also uncomfortable if I start to feel it. While routine makes me feel safe, I hunger for spontaneity. And now I have a sidekick with whom I can live life to the fullest. We may be out of our minds crazy with "must-dos" tasks -- his homework, medschool applications (yes, I do help with the essays!), work, paying the bills, cleaning the house, doing the laundry, buying the groceries, blah blah blah vomit -- but our goal is to find joy and that "full" feeling every day -- an evening at the Presbyterian church downtown listening to interfaith choirs, pizza at the Pie, a walk around the park at dusk, a baptism, a scary movie, taking a stroll around Temple Square at night hand in hand. Yes, change will come -- change will ALWAYS come. But we can find joy in the journey. To my friends, you may have abandoned me for more exciting things than an old married woman (don't worry, I don't judge), but I love you regardless. Come visit me. To my family, you can rest now that I've found Jesus. God bless. To my husband, I'm sorry for the hair that is constantly covering our tile floors. Welcome to life with a girl.
If I don't continue to consistently write on this darn blog, feel free to flog me. In public. Maybe in the Taco Time parking lot, because I'm hungry.
Peace.
