Adventures in Babysitting

It was Saturday. Mom and Dad Y had been in Vegas for three days now, and I, having had the privilege of babysitting Ykid T, Ykid R, Ykid A, and Ykid G, was sitting on the bar stool watching the chaotic scene before me. My little Brother B was visiting for a couple of days to help entertain the Y herd, so the five of them were playing on the Wii U. With this particular console, you can have four players on a split screen on the TV, and then one person has a handheld component, in which they have their own screen. They are still interacting with everyone on the main TV, but don't have to watch it. Everyone else can see this person with the handheld screen's real face in a small box on the TV -- it has a camera. (Are you following this?) Anyway, they were all deeply involved in their game of Mario Kart, when suddenly Ykid T (8 years old) left the room with the handheld screen. No one really paid attention to where she went. Regardless, it really didn't matter where she had gone, because they could still see her face on the television. Suddenly, however, someone made the realization that the bathroom door was shut -- and had been for quite some time. When the lightbulb finally turned on as to where their fifth player was, Brother B let out a squeek: "Ewwwwwwwwwww! T is in the bathroom, pooping!!!!!!" We all looked to the small camera scene of Ykid T's face, as she held the console on her lap while on the toilet, oblivious to the fact that there was a roomful of people in the bathroom with her. The little kids started yelling to her that they could see her pooping, and slowly the screen shot on the TV went from her face up to the ceiling. By this point, everyone was dying of laughter. Eventually Ykid T emerged from her lair, giggled, and continued playing from her spot on the couch. I could only shake my head and smile. No one had been injured, threatened, or killed. Someone only pooped live on television. Compared to the entire week as a whole, this was, shall we say, a peaceful moment in our adventures in babysitting.

This is what we emailed to their parents one night before we all went to bed...

Evidence that they were still alive on the last day of babysitting. Evidence that I can get four kids ready for church and STILL be to church on time. And evidence that these are some dang cute kids!
