It just happened to be the snowiest day of the year (and given the fact that it hardly ever snows here, that's a big deal). Without snow plows to clear the roadways, or salt to melt the ice, drivers were on their own when they dared to go out. Businesses shut down, the movie theater closed. That week schools were out, and church services were cancelled. It was the most snow little Lebanon had seen in years.
And so it was only fitting that that's when we decided to go and cut down our very first Christmas tree.
We had been given a coupon for a free u-cut out on a country farm here in the area, so, we did what anyone would do on a snowy Saturday: We borrowed a chain saw, hopped in the Toyota Corolla with some parachute cord, and prayed to high heaven that we wouldn't end up in a ditch somewhere. It was an "adventure," Tyler claimed.
Here is some of the documentation...

Hold on tight!

While one might have feared we would never make it home, we did, and we hauled that beast up three stories, pine needles flying all over with every bump against the wall or rail. We were cleaning them up for days. After using the recently purchased decorations to glitterize the tree, we were still missing something. The fact that bigger is always better (especially when free) led us to get a much larger tree than we had expected, and we had to improvise to make our masterpiece complete. And so we sewed some popcorn and cranberries together over the course of five hours. Tyler swore he would never do it again. But doesn't it just do the trick?!
Presenting, our very first Christmas tree..
Ding! Fries are done.
