Kids These Days...

I went home this weekend while Tyler fought the mosquitoes at scout camp. I ate my breakfast on the deck, overlooking the always incredible Garden Valley, ran six miles with my very willing step sister, met up with my mom and brother for lunch at an old high school stomping ground, and hung out at the very park where I got hoof and mouth disease when I was five.

And I found this piece of writing by my 11 year old brother lying around the house. This is why I love him.

Letter written by Bryce to Mom:

Let's think for a minute, about what? A phone, yes I know I have one already, but a nice, sleek I phone would be awesome. Also middle school, that scary place, is coming and it probably would not be as scary for you if I had a reliable phone to call you with, a phone that anything can be possible! An I phone.

Like I said I already have a phone but it is not very reliable at all. It has failed twice. One of the times it would not hold a battery, now think if that happened on the golf course. This is how I envision it, first you call and I do not answer, second you keep calling and freak-out, third you drive all the way to the course and find me. Knowing you tells me that would make you mad and you being mad ruins your day. Not so good right? Solution: new phone.

Next with the phone deals that I have seen, the price gets lower when you buy more. Like "buy one get one free" things. As we all know cheap is good, cheap is very good. And maybe I might cough over some money. Maybe.

Finally, Mom as you know your phone has Tetras a pretty boring game, but it is a game. So I play it. Yet games like Minecraft are so much better. The point is that I take your phone and you want it back but if I had a phone with lots of apps or at least a app store I would not even glance at yours. But at the moment the most fun thing on my phone is World Map.

Basically the point of this paper is to say that Steve Jobs made Apple with the knowledge of the fact that his company would be the highest quality technology in the world. Whatever your answer is, just know that I will be fine with it.

So great to read a letter from my best friend! This is hilarious. I'm so glad that phones like that weren't around when we were 11. It was a much less complicated world...
